In January 2014, Google had announced it acquired Nest, a company that makes smart home thermostats, smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide detectors. Google says how Nest will continue to operate as its own entity under Nest CEO Tony Fadell. Regulatory approvals and checks will go into effect allowing Google to completely acquire Nest by June of 2014. Nest’s products allow users to monitor their home conditions on the go as well as save energy. While unsure of the reason of this acquisition, Google has been rumored to be developing their own smart home solutions. Surely the fog surrounding this acquisition will clear in the coming weeks.
