Sprint & T-Mobile No Longer Merging

After months of delegation and a seemingly imminent deal that would have Sprint acquire T-Mobile, Sprint is reportedly abandoning its efforts in acquiring the latter U.S. carrier.

According to The Wall Street Journal and after months of an imminent blockbuster buyout, Sprint is reportedly backing down from acquiring T-Mobile, which would’ve caused both carriers to merge together in which most believe would put both of them in direct competition with Verizon and AT&T. It appears to be that the problem stemmed from the merger being too risky and would have too many issues regarding regulation. The merge would have also given both companies a stronger chance in bidding for available wireless spectrum that will be put up for auction in 2015. This set of circumstances is extremely similar to when AT&T to buy T-Mobile in a similar merger, which was also halted due to regulation issues as well as a chance of unfair competition taking place. Good news for T-Mobile users! You all live to see Big Magenta thrive another day.
